Once you go dead...well...there's no going back.
I was sitting on the couch, flipping through movies to watch when I came across Jason Friedberg's “Vampire's Suck”. Since I have always been a fan of mythical creatures, vampires certainly fell into that category and it had the added bonus of being a comedy. So I thought to myself: 'Ah why not? I'm in the mood to laugh tonight anyways.'
While I was watching the movie, the thought finally struck me amidst my giggles...Vampires! That's the perfect topic! People have been crazy about them, especially after Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series which has sold over 70 million copies worldwide (according to The New York Times). But why the overall obsession about vampires? It's always been there, ever since the very first vampire novel, Bram Stoker's Dracula was published back in 1897. What is it that makes Vampires so popular? From books to movies and television series, these blood suckers have been a rather predominant theme.
In this blog I will be reviewing novels, popular movies and TV series involving the pale faced creature of the night. I'll be looking at everything from science-fiction to horror, action to comedy and even the top ten best Vampire flicks. All this just to get down to the root of the craze.
If you're ready, let's take the dive! Don't forget to bring the garlic!

I am so thrilled to have come across your blog so late into the night! Oh this is going to be just a treat. I have always wondered the same thing, what is it about vampires that we simply cannot get enough of them? Everywhere you look, vampire this, vampire that. As a matter of fact there happens to be at least one character in today’s television show or blockbuster hit that turns out to be a vampire. Why the hype? And what exactly are we getting out of this. I think you have chosen a great phenomenon to discuss. Goodluck and try not to get too spooked out!
ReplyDeleteI told you before. I just simply love your blog. You are an awesome writer, and now I want to know about vampires! which is huge, because i don´t really care much about certain fantasies.
ReplyDeleteWhat, no reference to Twilight? ha ha
ReplyDeleteI remember when they actually discovered that Robert Pattinson was a distant, DISTANT relative of Dracula. I don't know how accurate that was, but I'm sure you would be able to find out over anyone!
Cool concept for a blog, Angela. Not enough people know about the origins of things like this. I love it.
Oh, i plan on talking about Twilight, but much much later. haha
